Today many people are finding that the churches they and their parents attended for years no longer meet the spiritual needs of their families. Many of the denominational decisions, made in cities thousands of miles away, no longer reflect the values of the average family sitting in the pew or the values they find in their Bibles. As a result many of those churches are dying, while self-governing churches, like FBC, are thriving by meeting spiritual needs. The people attending FBC believe that the Bible should determine what they teach and believe. We believe that the local church should direct its own affairs based on Biblical standards. FBC is affiliated with Converge Worldwide, but places Biblical authority above that of any denomination.

I trust, that should you visit with us this Sunday, you will find a group of wonderful people and excellent programs to help you grow in Christ. Being located in a tourist area, we enjoy fellowship with many weekend and seasonal visitors as well as year around residents. It is likely you will recognize friends, neighbors, or relatives from around Burnett and Polk Counties. We are people who live, work, and vacation in the community. We are schoolteachers, farmers, business people, carpenters, students, bus drivers, and more. You see, we are people just like you who gather together to encourage one another and to learn from God’s Word.

We are people from different religious backgrounds. Some were raised in churches and others discovered the truths of the Bible later in life. Most of us belonged to some denomination at one time or another. We were Lutherans, Methodists, Catholics, Presbyterians, and Baptists, but now it is our belief in the Bible that unites us. 

We are a group of people that desire to grow closer to God and to see our friends, neighbors, and relatives reach their full spiritual potential as well.
